Ramadhan 2020. It still doesn’t feel like it. Apart from 2 friends staying in the same building as I am and the Bangladeshi that mans the mini mart downstairs, Sazeb, I’ve not been in close proximity or socializing with anybody else since the lockdown. So I’ve not met nosy, holier-than-thous asking “Are you fasting?” to make it feel like typical Ramadhan in Malaysia.

Speaking of Ramadhan, many Muslims believe that this is the month when all the demons or popularly known as Iblis (the devil chief of jinkind that always pushes us to do bad things) and Shayatins/Satans (the army of Iblis whose main job is to eliminate goodness inside us) are “chained” or “locked away” somewhere by God. I guess it’s true because Muslims tend to do more good deeds the whole month of Ramadhan, except wasting and eating too much food. The lockdown is a kind of blessing in disguise.
Talking about the devil, Muslims believe in the invisible entities, living in different electromagnetic spectrum frequency (not in the visible 3-dimensional world or in visible light). Like angels (believing in angels is one of six articles of Muslim faith), jins (also spelled djins or anglicised term – genies or demons in Christianity) also mentioned in the Holy Qur’an. Muslims however, MUST NOT believe in ghosts because they don’t exist and never mentioned in the Qur’an. The Qur’an says that angels are created from light (nur), meanwhile jins or in modern popular term – aliens are made of smokeless flame of fire (can be interpreted as the fringe of a flame or the light of the lightning).

The word jin means ‘to hide’ (verb). Hence, fetus is called janin which means ‘hidden in the womb’. Meanwhile jannah or many refer to as heaven means ‘a place enveloped by darkness’ or ‘a garden enclosed by a wall’. The adjective of jin is jinnah (madness) while majnun is ‘a person whose rationality and intellect disappear’.
The Qur’an also says that before Adam (who God created from clay of the earth and water and He blew a soul into it), jins were already abound in the universe, including earth for long time.
The first, most racist, supremacist, ungrateful species of jins is called Iblis (Devil), the chief of jinkind who refused to bow down to Adam while angels (created with very limited free will, without the feeling of jealousy, desires and pride) did when ordered by God. [Qur’an 2:34, 7:11]
“I am better than him (Adam), You created me from fire (and air), and him you created from clay (earth and water),” [Qur’an 7:12] protested Iblis.
Though Adam & Eve were created in the Garden of Eden (Firdous), they were meant to be sent to earth as foretold by God to angels.
“Lo! I am about to place a viceroy (khaleefah) in the earth, they (angels) said: Wilt thou place therein one (people) who will do harm therein and will shed blood, while we, we hymn Thy, praise and sanctify Thee? He (God) said: Surely I know that which ye know not.”[Qur’an 2:30]
The conversation implies that jins were already residing on earth before humans whose characteristics weren’t dissimilar to us – with conscious souls, feelings (love, hate), jealousy, desires (for good and bad things) and pride. Iblis in the form of serpent (please note – snake) that enticed Adam and Eve to eat the forbidden fruit was a means for God to remind humans what devil jins are – to always entice humans to do bad things and disobey God. But the incident (of eating the forbidden fruit) was also a way of God telling humans that we have free will and accountable for our actions. Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit because they were enticed by the serpent to disobey God. Their disobedience caused them to be punished by the banishment to earth (to be viceroys on earth).
However Muslims don’t believe in the “original sin”. In Islam, Adam and Eve were repentant of their misdeeds, sought forgiveness from God and they were forgiven by God as He is all merciful and all forgiving. Muslims believe that every human being is born innocent until they reach puberty age. Nobody else is accountable for their deeds except they themselves.

So who and what are jins or most popularly known today as aliens?
– Since they are created from smokeless flame of fire, they are energy or plasma, with no body mass, existing in different spectrum. They exist in different frequency from ours, invisible in the visible light. Imagine radio, tv and wifi frequencies around us. They are around but silent and invisible until decoded to rock/pop songs on our radio or HBO movies by the decoder attached to our tv set or to Netflix movies by the decoder and screened on our smart tv, smart phone or computer. So jins exist in one of millions of frequencies around us and in the entire universe with no physical bodies and not in 3-dimensional world. Only that we haven’t found a decoder to see them. Or perhaps we have but being kept as secret to the public.
– However, in rare occasions, through shape-shifting, they appear in the visible light (our world). Visible light is an extremely narrow band of frequency in the electromganetic spectrum. Electromagnetic spectrum, according to mainstream science is less than 0.005% of the entire universe. It means that the invisible world is more than 99.995% of the universe!
When they decide to show themselves to us, jins normally take the forms of ghosts or aliens or fallen angels or Virgin Mary or elves or Ganesha or dogs or snakes or humans etc, depending on cultural and religious beliefs of the targetted people with aim to manipulate, exploit and eventually deceive us humans into worshipping them!

– Jins can enter human world by aligning their band of frequency with human frequency. Remember when we sometimes experience a situation commonly known as “cross line” when suddenly we hear a stranger’s voice in our phone conversation with our friend or parent? It’s because two frequencies overlap each other. We can see jins only when they decide to ‘cross line’. Human can’t “cross line” into their world because we don’t have the ability to change our physical body (matter) into being jin (energy). Jins on the other hand are capable to shift shape from energy into matter. But they rarely shift shapes for us humans to see them in the visible light. May be it’s too painful to shift shape. Look at werewolves. Too painful to shift shapes from humans into wolves and back, haha.

– Average jins are physically stronger than average humans but aren’t superior to humans. King Solomon (prophet Sulaiman) was awarded by God with special and unique gift – to be the king of humans, animals and jins as mentioned in the Koran. His palace, also known as Solomon Temple or Palace in Jerusalem was built by jins. When his messenger bird, hoopoe (hood hood) was missing, King Solomon threatened to punish him if he didn’t present himself with a reasonable excuse. Within a short while hoopoe returned with news,
“I have obtained knowledge of things which you have no knowledge. I have brought sure information about Saba (Sheba, a well-known rich people of southern Arabia, now the present day Yemen. Their capital city was Ma’rib which lay about 55 miles to the north-east of Sana, the present-day capital of Yemen). There I have seen a woman (Bilqis or Queen Sheba) ruling over her people: she has been given all sorts of provisions, and she has a splendid throne. I saw that she and her people prostrate themselves before the sun, instead of Allah (God)!”
Prophet Solomon said, “We shall just now see whether what you say is true, or that you are a liar. Take this letter of mine and cast it before them; then get aside and see what reaction they show.” [Koran 27: 27-28].
The strongest and most powerful of the jins, Ifrit begged and promised King Solomon to bring the throne of Sheba to the king before he even rise from his seat, as mentioned in the Koran;
“I will bring it to you before you rise from your place. And verily, I am indeed strong, and trustworthy for such work.” [27: 38-40]
However, the duty was not given to him. The verse implies that the most powerful of jinkinds is Ifrit and he is capable of transforming physical body (matter) into energy and vice versa and travel at very high speed (teleporting). The distance between Saba and Jerusalem is about 2000km. 4000km within 2 blinks of an eye is badass. I’m sure Einstein must’ve obtained his E=MC2 from this story haha. Was Nicola Tesla inspired by this story for most of his works?

– Jins’ characteristics aren’t dissimilar to humans. There are jins who are good, bad, righteous, pious, hedonistic, lying, crazy etc.
– Jins are intellectually inferior to humans. Jins lack wisdom and intelligence but cunning. Most are jealous of humans’ superiority and suffer from inferiority complex. Messiah complex is their way of overcoming their inferiority. They strive to be in control of humankinds. And lead us to be sinners.

– Average jins live longer than average humans.
– Quantitatively, jins far outnumber humans. If human world is in an electromagnetic spectrum smaller than 0.005% of the universe, imagine how many live in the invisible world which is more than 99.995% of the universe!
– Jins have to learn human languages to interact with us, not the other way around. ‘The Exorcism of Emily Rose’ is based on a true event where jin “posessed” Emily Rose and spoke in Latin.
– Jins affiliate themselves with human religions i.e. Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism etc. Koran & hadith don’t mention of any prophets or messengers sent to jins’ world.
– Jins get married, have children (can be as many as 100 per couple), get divorced etc, just like humans.
– Jins also need to eat and drink for sustenance. Koran doesn’t mention what they eat but hadith cryptically mentions bones and raw meat. Hence they prefer to shift-shape as dogs and snakes (serpent – a reptile) if they ever need to enter human band of frequency.
– Most jins prefer to live in dirty and filthy places i.e. toilets etc or away from humans (deep ravines, deep in jungle, deserted desert and other planets). Koran and hadith mention a lot on the importance of cleanliness to not attract the filthy “otherwordlies”
Now we know what jins are. We also know that there is no ghost. We have zero reason to fear ghosts because they don’t exist. If at midnight we hear something scratching the wall outside, most probably it’s an owl trying to get hold of a gecko. Or suddenly we think we see something moving in the other room, it’s probably our eyebrow is falling off. Jins have better things to do than scratching our wall, not especially after they just had a manicure and nails polished. They are too busy looking after their 75 children and another one is on its way.
We humans tend to fear the unknown. Now we know and no reason to fear them. Fear comes from lack of knowledge, from stupidity or rather being made stupid. The 1% knows this but doesn’t want the 99% know about the invisible world – the 99.995% of the universe that exists in different electromagnetic spectrum. Let’s debunk the “seeing is believing” myth. Let’s gain knowledge. Knowledge is power.
